Done for the April 1994 cover of Popular Mechanics, this was a speculative view of a bridge across the Bering Strait. Gouache on masonite.
Alaska-Siberia Bridge
One of several paintings of Southwestern landscapes I did in the early part of this decade. This one shows Desert View point on the east side on Grand Canyon National Park at sunset. Acrylic on masonite.
Grand Canyon Desert View
Another painting of Grand Canyon done around 2000. Acrylic on masonite.
Grand Canyon Eagles
This was the cover for the Jan. 1994 issue of Popular Mechanics (also a 2 page spread inside). This was the dawn of the World Wide Web, and at the time, I knew little about it, not being 'wired' myself. But, the idea of a fiber optic 'freeway' was not out of my realm of visualization, as I had experience with cities, and the lighting effects seen here. The art was a big smash at PM, which led to several covers.
Information Superhighway
A commission from Light Technology Publishing, a New Age publisher in Flagstaff, AZ (near our town), for a book to be published in 2012. Photoshop 6 w/Wacom tablet.
Out Of Body Experience
Done for the Dec. 1995 cover of Popular Mechanics. It shows (L to R) Seattle Space Needle, Itaipu Dam, Golden Gate Bridge, Channel Tunnel, Panama Canal, Empire State Building, Netherlands North Sea Protection Works. Gouache on Masonite
Seven Wonders of the Modern World
A book cover commission from Light Technology publishing, for author William L. Putnam. It's a non-fiction book about 2 alps passes, Mont Cenis, and Great Saint Bernard. The idea comes from Roman folklore of glaciers in the region, looking like a giant dragon, devouring the landscape. Gouache on masonite
Tale of Two Passes
